About me
I am a genuine son of South Tyrol, and it is my firm intention to represent the interests of the people of South Tyrol in Brussels. I was born on 4 March 1969 in Brixen/Bressanone and, after leaving school, I studied agrarian science in Piacenza. After graduating I taught at the Agricultural College at Auer/Ora and then became director of the agriculture department at the Bozen/Bolzano Chamber of Commerce. As director of the South Tyrolean Farmers’ Federation for nearly ten years I gained valuable experience that I still draw on today. Finally, in 2005 I was elected mayor of my locality and in 2009 made the leap to the European Parliament. I am married with two sons: I enjoy walking, reading a good book, cooking for my family and going boating with friends.
