MdEP Herbert Dorfmann

Visiting the parliament

Would you like to visit the European Parliament in Brussels or in Strasbourg with a group, school class, leisure association or as an individual? I will be pleased to find time to welcome you personally to the Parliament. Before a visit, however, some preparations are necessary.

Visits must be planned at least four months in advance, as there are numerous visitors to the European Parliament. Before deciding on a travel date, please call my colleague Dietmar Pattis on +39 0472 970326. He can tell you which dates are in principle possible.

Then go directly to the visitor service of the European parliament.

Afterwards,
please wait for confirmation then send us details of the relevant appointment – a visit takes one and a half hours. My colleague will try to co-ordinate my schedule with your visit and arrange a meeting.

Travelling from South Tyrol to Brussels:

Travelling by car or coach takes approximately thirteen hours. Flights are available from all nearby international airports: Munich, Verona, Milan and Venice. The cheapest variant, on Ryanair, flies daily from Milan-Bergamo to Brussels-Charleroi, or on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from Verona.

Please note that Ryanair flights can only be booked online using a credit card. For group reservations we recommend asking participants for a copy of their valid identity card (front and back) or their passport, as all such information is necessary for online bookings. It is important to enter the travel data correctly as the airline makes a handling charge of 110 euros for any subsequent changes. We also advise strict adherence to Ryanair’s hand luggage rules (maximum 10 kg – check your suitcase dimensions!). We recommend that all travellers are informed accordingly.

From Brussels-Charleroi we recommend taking the Voyages l'Elan shuttle service leaving every 30 minutes and costing 22 euros for a return ticket. Larger groups should make an online reservation
(www.voyages-elan.be). The journey to the centre of Brussels takes approximately 45 minutes (Gare de Midi) with direct connections to the Brussels underground system. We recommend purchasing a multi-day ticket for your stay at 12.50 euros.

Hotels are always available online under
www.booking.com or directly at www.accorhotels.com. From experience the Ibis hotel group offers good value for money; their hotels are also very centrally located. For guided tours of the city, the best option is to book directly at www.brusselsinternational.be.

My staff will of course be pleased to help with advice and tips. Please understand however that they cannot make reservations of any kind for you. The above-mentioned businesses have no relationship with us; these are purely personal recommendations.
